1. HERE’S HOW IT WORKS: Write an original 200-word-or-fewer essay describing your favorite supper club experience - an evening of good food, Santa Margherita wine and friendship. In addition to the essay, entrant must submit a photograph showcasing the supper club described in the essay. The “supper club” can be a dinner party at your home or a gathering of friends at a favorite local restaurant. See Rule #3 for essay entry instructions and photograph entry requirements. At the conclusion of the entry period, judges will determine 5 Finalists entries to be posted online. See Rule #4 for judging information.
2. ELIGIBILITY: This promotion is open only to residents of the 50 United States or the District of Columbia, 21 years of age or older at time of entry. Employees of Santa Margherita, Terlato Wines International, and their affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotion agencies and their immediate family members and/or those living in the same household of each are not eligible.
3. HERE’S HOW TO ENTER: Beginning 12:01 a.m., ET, on 6/02/08, visit www.sm-supperclub.com and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the Official Contest Entry Form, submit your original 200-word or fewer statement and upload your photo (see below for photograph requirements). Online entries must be received by 11:59 ET on 7/28/08. Or, you can mail your contest entry form, essay and photo to: Santa Margherita Supper Club Contest Entries, Marina Maher Communications, 830 Third Avenue, 12th Floor, New York, NY 10022. Mailed entries must be received by 7/28/08. Submissions must be in English. Only one contest entry is allowed per person regardless of method of entry. All material submitted becomes property of Sponsor and will not be returned. Photograph can be in color or black and white. Photo may contain other people in addition to the entrant but all persons must be 21 years of age or older. Professional studio photographs are not eligible. Photographs must be in JPEG or PDF format only, with a file size of up to 1 MB. If the photo portion of submission contains any person(s) other than the entrant, entrant must receive prior written permission from other person(s) featured in the submission for Sponsor to use their likenesses for publicity including, but not limited to posting on Web site(s). Entrant must also receive prior written permission from the photographer of his/her photo if the photo portion of the entry was taken by someone other than the entrant him/herself and from the supper club venue, if applicable. Entrant must make written copies of such permissions available to the Sponsor upon request.
Submission must be original work that has not been previously published nor won a prize or award. Modifying, enhancing or altering a third party’s preexisting work does not qualify as Entrant’s original creation. The submission cannot contain any unacceptable clothing or adornments, or display any commercial/corporate advertising competitive with sponsor’s products (including but not limited to corporate logos, brand names, slogans, political, personal and religious statements, and they must not contain defamatory statements (including words or symbols that are widely considered offensive to individuals of a certain race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, or socioeconomic group); they must not include threats to any person, place, business, or group; they must not invade privacy or other rights of any person, firm, entity, and they must not in any way violate applicable federal, state, or local laws and regulations as determined by Sponsor, in its sole discretion. Submissions may not contain indecent behavior, profanities or obscenities, including but not limited to nudity, or pornography, and may not in any way disparage any persons or organizations sponsor/judges reserve the right in their sole discretion to disqualify any entry that, in their sole opinion, refers, depicts or in any way reflects negatively upon the Sponsor, the Contest or any other person or entity, or does not comply with these requirements or these Official Rules. Submissions must be suitable for presentation in a public forum, in sole determination of judges and/or Sponsor.
Sponsor is not responsible for lost, late, incomplete, invalid, un-intelligible or misdirected entries, which are disqualified. Sponsor shall have the right to reproduce, copy, broadcast, edit, adapt and publish any or all of the Entries, and may use them in any media whatsoever throughout the world, without limitation, for any and all advertising, promotions, and other purposes of trade, without attribution or compensation to the entrant, his/her successors or assigns, or any other entity SUBMITTING AN ENTRY IN THIS CONTEST CONSTITUTES ENTRANT’S IRREVOCABLE ASSIGNMENT, CONVEYANCE AND TRANFERENCE TO SPONSOR OF ANY AND ALL RIGHT, TITLE AND INTEREST, AND ALL RESIDUAL INTERESTS IN THE PHOTOGRAPH INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, ALL COPYRIGHTS AND ANY RENEWALS AND EXTENSIONS THEREOF.
4. WINNER DETERMINATION: JUDGING: All eligible entries will be preliminarily judged by representatives of the sponsor to determine 5 finalists, based on the following criteria: Originality & Creativity of Essay, 50% and Appropriateness of Essay and Photo to Contest Theme, 50%. Finalist judging scores assigned by representatives of the sponsor will be weighted as 100% of the total score.
5. PRIZE AND APPROXIMATE RETAIL VALUE: (1) Grand Prize - Winner will receive a 5-day/4-night trip for two to Italy from 9/10/08 – 9/14/08. Dates are not flexible based on pre-arranged trip activities. If winner cannot participate these exact dates, the Grand Prize trip will be awarded to the second place winner, or the next ranked entry. Prize includes round-trip first class air transportation, hotel accommodations (double occupancy), arranged ground transportation, a tour of Santa Margherita’s winery in Greve, attendance at the Chianti Classico Festival in Tuscany, a cooking class at Academia Barilla cooking school in Parma, and several included dinners. Winner and guest are solely responsible for all other expenses not specifically set forth herein, including but not limited to meals, additional transportation, souvenirs and other incidentals and items of a personal nature. Winner and guest must travel on same itinerary. (ARV: $15,000; the actual retail value of the prize will depend on winner's point of departure/return. In the event the Chianti Festival is cancelled or postponed for any reason, sponsor will have no obligation to award compensation in lieu thereof but the remainder of the trip will be awarded. Prize consists of only the items specifically listed as part of the prize.
Contest entrants will receive a free CD, including Supper Club music, recipes and entertaining resources (while supplies last).
6. GENERAL RULES: Potential winner will be required to complete an Affidavit of Eligibility certifying that the essay submission is his/her own original work, that he/she holds all rights to the submission, that the submission has not been previously published, has not won a previous prize or award and that he/she has followed the official rules of the contest. Additionally, potential winner will be required to complete a Prize Acceptance Form and, if legally permissible, a Publicity Release. Failure to provide may result in disqualification. All documents must be completed and returned within 3 days of attempted delivery of same. Noncompliance within this time period or return of any prize/prize notification as undeliverable will result in disqualification and an alternate potential winner will be selected, if time permits. Winner will be notified by mail. The winner’s traveling companion must also complete and return a Release of Liability within 3 days of winner’s attempted notification. All travelers must possess required travel documents (e.g., passport valid for 6 months after return date of trip) prior to departure. All travelers must agree to depart and return on dates specified by the Sponsor; dates of departure and return are subject to change. No substitution or transfer of prize by winner permitted. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute prize of equal or greater value. All applicable federal, state, and local taxes are the sole responsibility of winner. All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply. Void where prohibited by law. By accepting prize, winner agrees to release and hold Sponsor, its respective directors, officers, employees and assigns, harmless from and against any and all claims and liability arising out of use of prize. Winner assumes all liability for any injury or damage caused, or claimed to be caused, by participation in this promotion or use or redemption of any prize. Acceptance of prize constitutes permission for the Sponsor and its agencies to use winner’s name and/or likeness for purposes of advertising and trade without further compensation, unless prohibited by law. Entrants agree to release, discharge and hold harmless Sponsor, its respective directors, officers, employees and assigns, from and against any and all liability and damages. By participating in this promotion, entrants agree to be bound by the Official Rules and the judges’ decisions which are final. In the event there is a discrepancy or inconsistency between disclosures or other statements contained in any contest materials and the terms and conditions of the Official Rules, the Official Rules shall prevail, govern and control. All material submitted becomes the sole property of Sponsor and will not be returned. Sponsor not responsible for any typographical or other error in the printing of the offer, administration of the contest or in the announcement of the prize. In no event will more than one prize be awarded.

Proof of submitting entries/votes will not be deemed to be proof of receipt by Sponsor. Any use of robotic, automatic, programmed or the like methods of participation/voting will void all such submissions/votes by such methods. Sponsor reserves the right to prohibit the participation of an individual if fraud or tampering is suspected or if the account holder fails to comply with any requirement of participation/voting as stated herein or with any provision in these Official Rules.
